In app purchase worth the $10. Best player for iPad

I cant speak to the equalizer; I dont use it. However, the in app purchase of the player is a great value. The best player Ive found for my iPad. Smoothed out the highs, opened up the minds and has decent low end performance. Get this app! Excellent sound for lossless

This app makes all of my lossless music sound significantly better than the built-in Apple music player. Its warmer, deeper, clearer, more fluid and has better stereo separation. The excellent EQ is a really nice bonus for the few albums that need a little help. When you touch the album art, the full album artwork shows unobstructed from any controls and isnt at the top so the time and battery info, etc. isnt in the way either. The layout is great and the color scheme is easier on the eyes. The volume slider is fortunately smooth and not in incremental steps. It can sort by artist, then album. My only wish is if it could sort an artists albums by date. My albums are tagged with the date and the dates show in the Apple app but they show blank in this apps info section. A minor detail. Im extremely happy with this app and love it. All of the bugs I mentioned previously were all fixed, thank you!

Could be great - needs an update!

Has some great features. Air drop sync of .flac files is awesome! Why cant I do that with Apples Music app? When its playing, it sounds great! But Onkyo HF Player has some serious bugs with current iOS. Worst is the hanging between songs. It just freezes up and clicks. Have to force quit the app. This limits it to long programs only, and force quit after each play. The UI also was designed for the classic 4" phones so does not look great on todays pluses. Thats a minor quibble compared to the hanging crashes. Please update this app and fix the crashes. I want to love it!

Nice app

Very nice app, but it needs a update!! Were using a iOS10, last update was in 2015.

Very Best Player!

A fiatalkorom nagy lejátszója emlékét felidézve ( Integra 7711 CD ) tőltöttem le és nem csalódtam. Öreg HiFi-s -ként naponta legjobb zenei élményt adja a fülhalgató hozzáigazitását követően. Ha lehetne 7*-got is megérdemelne!!! Thanks this wonderful work!????????

Poorly Designed

Not only is this app poorly designed but like many other apps it is not updated or maintained. When songs are imported they dont sync properly.

Close

Sound quality is good. But it is missing some essential things. Cannot add to playlist, not suitable for iPad.

Recent version stops playback randomly

Dont buy this until problems are fixed. Was stable until the most recent update.

Buggy. Do not buy until problems are fixed

I really like the interface with few exceptions. There is NO way to delete a full album. Only specific songs. The app is not very stable. Also, if you are using an external DAC and leave it for a while not playing (e.g. after the album has finished) you will need to restart the app, as it loses connection with the DAC. It is not an iOS issue as other applications do not have this behaviour. That is almost killing the app and makes my want to uninstall it. Which I will probably do, even I have bought the hi-res feature pack. It is VERY annoying. I do not recommend it until the bugs are fixed.

Latest version cutting out

Since the latest update (Dec 2016) it cuts out/stutters when playing DSD files. Was fine before. Hopefully they will address this and fix it.

The update did not help, make the ability to edit the lists!

Проблема номер 1 - нет возможности работать со списками. Проблема номер 2 - при добавлении в список песни в яблочном плеере в этом плеере появляется еще один список. Получается добавил 100 песен, получил 100 одинаковых списков. Problem number 1 - no possibility to work with lists. Problem number 2 - when you add a song list in Apple player in this player, there is another list. It turns out I added 100 songs, got 100 identical lists.

Useless - this is just smoke & mirrors

Do yourself a favor, dont waste your money on this crap. Its ugly and sounds no better than monkey anus.

my personal recommendation

Ive never heard my music in such precise quality with such detailed equalizer.

Almost there...

After using this app for about a week, I find that while over all it is pretty darn good, it is missing a few features that in my mind would make it perfect. But overall I do like this app and it works beautifully with my external DAC/headphone amp. First of all, I didnt have any problems copying my FLAC files to the iPhone using iTunes. Not sure why other reviewers had issues with this. But the two features I would love to see are: - Sort by album artist in the HD collection. This is available for the "iPod" collection, so I was very surprised to not see it for the HD collection. - "Consume" - automatically removing songs from the playlist once they finish playing. This is even more needed since you have to manually remove each song from the playlist unless you replace the whole playlist with another album. There is no "Clear Playlist" button either.

Dont buy it if you have the TEAC HD music player app.

The application looks, acts, and sounds like the TEAC application. It has the same quirks also. High definition PCM files work. I use aiff and alac files with no trouble through an external desktop DAC, TEAC UD-301, and a portable USB headphone amp, Audioengine D3. Both use the Apple camera connector and a powered USB hub. This is an iPhone only application so it does not work as well on an iPad. It will not reorient itself to match your screens position. This is cumbersome if you are trying to use your iPad in landscape and you are using the Lightning port to feed an external DAC or amplifier. It does have a landscape mode but it shows the equalizer. It will play DSD files if your DAC supports them but be careful about how your DAC plays them. My DAC does play them using DoP or it can play DSD music converted to PCM. Be careful with how you set up playing DSD files in the applications preferences. The application will not stream music files. Try the application FileBrowser (paid, full version). You can stream HD music files from a server or from a WiFi drive. FileBrowser does not play DSD files but HD is sent to your external DAC at the proper sample rate. This app is worth the price since it plays HD and DSD music to your external DAC and headphone amplifier. The bad part is that you need a large machine to hold the music files within the app. My last warning is to repeat what I said earlier. It is identical to the TEAC HD music player. Dont buy both.

Significant Improvement over Stock!

I was highly skeptical -- I mean, digital music is digital music, right? WRONG Testing back-to-back against the stock music app consistently revealed a much smoother, more detailed sound -- in comparison, the stock app, on the same files just sounds crunchy and is missing a lot of detail. So yeah, its worth the free price. And if you want, you can pay up for hi res capabilities (must use an external DAC, though). Despite a weak UI, the sound quality alone vaults this app to 5-star territory.

Love the Onkyo HF player

This app really gets the job done. I am using it with a DragonFly Red external DAC. My HD music sounds great and now I can take it with me. The only thing negative I will say is about playlist. Creation of a playlist is difficult. If you want to add only one song to a playlist from an album you nee to add the entire album then go back and delete the songs you dont want on edit screen. I suggest an app for your Mac/PC similar to iTunes to manage music and edit/create playlist.

Best equalizer in the App Store.

This is, in my opinion, the best EQ app in the App Store by far. The amount of tweaking and option is amazing and will make your listening experience way better. Download it, play with the EQ and enjoy.

Excellent sound, but glitchy Bluetooth

This player produces an amazing sound quality, but Bluetooth is glitchy. It didnt use to be, but it hasnt been updated in a long time, and it doesnt work well in iOS 10. When I get in the car and turn on the stereo, once it connects it doesnt resume playing where I left off, it skips to the next song, or sometimes even two songs. I still use it because nothing beats its sound quality.

Best HiFi Player for iOS!

Ive tried a handful of hi-res players on the App Store but the Onkyo Player has been my all time favorite. Glad to see they are still updating this app for us audiophiles! Thank you!
